Mirabilis californica ssp. laevis

Mirabilis californica ssp. laevis is commonly known as Four-O-Clocks because the flowers open up in the afternoon sun. This low growing 4-6" annual is found along the coast in Spring. Taken on Palos Verdes peninsula. Photo copyright Mimi Andersen 2003.
